SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Christopher Robinson, 31, of Springfield, was sentenced on Nov. 5, 2026, by U.S. District Judge Colleen R. Lawless to 180 months in prison for possessing methamphetamine and fentanyl with the intent to distribute it.

At the sentencing hearing, the government presented evidence that law enforcement agents found 263 grams of methamphetamine and 166 grams of suspected heroin at Robinson’s residence while executing a search warrant. The suspected heroin tested positive for fentanyl. The government also presented evidence that Robinson intended to distribute the recovered drugs.   

Robinson was indicted in June 2024 and pleaded guilty in June 2026.

The statutory penalties for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine are not less than 15 years and up to life imprisonment, up to a $20 million fine, and up to a life term of supervised release. 

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Illinois State Police, and Jacksonville Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Z. Weir represented the government in the prosecution.
