Bloods Street Gang Leader Charged With Possessing Weapons And Conspiring To Distribute Drugs
NEWARK, N.J. - Brian R. Crowell, the Special Agent in Charge of the New Jersey Division of the Drug Enforcement (DEA) and Paul J. Fishman, the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, announced that an alleged leader of the Sex Money Murder set of the Bloods street gang appeared in court to face charges that he conspired to distribute heroin and cocaine and possessed 11firearms, including two firearms tied to homicides in Newark, N.J.
Narik Wilson, a/k/a “Spaz,” 27, of Newark, was arraigned before U.S. District Judge William J. Martini in Newark federal court. Wilson is being held without bail pending trial, which is scheduled to begin November 29, 2011.
On September 27, 2011, a federal grand jury returned a six-count Indictment against Wilson. He had originally been charged by Complaint Aug. 25, 2011, with two counts of being a felon in possession of firearms. The counts in the Indictment carry the following maximum penalties:

Wilson was identified as a leader of the Sex Money Murder set of the Bloods street gang operating in Newark. Wilson and other members of the gang were allegedly engaged in criminal acts that included distributing, and possessing with intent to distribute, drugs; possessing firearms; and possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking activity and crimes of violence, which included Wilson’s involvement in a “street war” with a rival gang in Newark.
During the investigation, which began in April 2011, Wilson and other members of the gang were observed and recorded distributing heroin and cocaine in the area of Spruce Street and elsewhere in Newark. Law enforcement received information that Wilson and members of Sex Money Murder were hiding guns in vacant apartments in Newark. On April 28, 2011, law enforcement conducted a search at one of these apartments, finding a high-powered assault weapon, a shotgun, and a semi-automatic pistol, as well as hundreds of rounds of various types of ammunition, a mask, and heroin. On July 18, 2011, law enforcement searched another vacant apartment, finding eight firearms, including two assault rifles, two shotguns, and other semiautomatic weapons, along with over 100 rounds of various types of ammunition, two ski masks, and cocaine.
U.S. Attorney Fishman credited the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Michael B. Ward; the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Brian R. Crowell; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Matthew W. Horace; the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Acting Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray, and the Newark Police Department, under the direction of Director Samuel DeMaio and Police Chief Sheilah Coley, with the investigation leading to the charges.
The charges and allegations contained in the indictment are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
