Las Vegas Man Sentenced to Over Four Years in Prison for Distribution of Methamphetamine
LAS VEGAS – A Las Vegas man was sentenced today by United States District Judge Gloria M. Navarro to 54 months in prison and three years of supervised release for selling methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance. The government recommended a sentence of 78 months in prison.
“This sentence reflects our unwavering commitment to removing dangerous drug traffickers from our communities,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada. “The distribution of methamphetamine ravages neighborhoods and destroys lives. By taking this individual off the streets for more than four years, we are sending a clear message that those who profit from fueling addiction in Nevada will be held fully accountable under federal law.”
“Across the United States, methamphetamine continues to tear through communities, leaving widespread destruction along its path,” said David S. Olesky, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration Los Angeles Field Division, which covers Nevada. “More than ever, ensuring accountability for drug criminals within the justice system serves as a critical deterrent. DEA stands united with our federal partners in our commitment to safeguard Americans.”
According to court documents, on July 2, 2024, Urkeno Walter met an individual at a parking lot and sold 416.8 grams (about one pound) of methamphetamine in exchange for cash. Then, on August 1, 2024, he sold 892.4 grams (about two pounds) of methamphetamine in exchange for cash.
Walter pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of a controlled substance-methamphetamine.
The DEA Los Angeles Field Division investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Brister prosecuted the case.
