California Man Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Distribution of Large Quantities of Methamphetamine
LAS VEGAS – A California man was sentenced today by United States District Judge Gloria M. Navarro to 36 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release for his role in distributing large quantities of methamphetamine as part of a drug conspiracy. The government requested a sentence of 41 months in prison.
“We will ruthlessly hunt down, dismantle, and destroy the criminal networks that treat Nevada as a highway for their toxic trade,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada. “The defendant chose to flood our communities with massive quantities of deadly methamphetamine for profit, completely indifferent to the lives he would destroy. Let this sentence serve as a stark warning to drug traffickers everywhere: if you bring your poison into our state, we will track you down, we will strip away your freedom, and you will spend years behind bars.”
“The methamphetamine crisis continues to devastate families across the United States — severely threatening the health and safety of all Americans,” said David S. Olesky, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration Los Angeles Field Division, which covers Nevada. “Today’s sentencing serves as a stern warning to drug distributors: Anyone who unleashes deadly poisons into our communities will be tracked down and face the full force of the law.”
According to court documents and statements made in court, between January 2024 and February 2024, Francisco J. Bojorquez conspired with co-defendants Fernando Beltran, David Gallegos, Jorge Villanueva, and others to distribute methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.
In January 2024, Villanueva arranged a sale of three pounds of methamphetamine. On January 18, 2024, Beltran drove Villanueva to retrieve methamphetamine from Bojorquez. Villanueva later sold 10 pounds of methamphetamine instead of three pounds to an individual. In February 2024, Villanueva arranged a sale of 60 pounds of methamphetamine. On February 12, 2024, Gallegos met with Bojorquez in California to obtain methamphetamine to transport to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, Bojorquez and Gallegos moved a bag and a suitcase containing the methamphetamine into Beltran and Villanueva’s car. At the drug sale location, Villanueva sold the methamphetamine to an individual. In total, Bojorquez sold 4.5 kilograms or more of methamphetamine.
Bojorquez pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
The DEA Los Angeles Field Division, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and Nevada Gaming Control Board investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorneys Brenna Bush and James Gaeta prosecuted the case.
