Fort Myers, Florida – Miguel Lauzado Hernandez (37, Naples) has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for distribution of methamphetamine. Hernandez pleaded guilty on June 3, 2025. United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe made the announcement. 

According to court documents, on September 12, 2024, Hernandez sold approximately one pound of methamphetamine to a DEA confidential source in Naples. Hernandez and his co-defendant, Juan Carlos Rodriguez Perez, distributed approximately two pounds of methamphetamine to a DEA confidential source in Naples on February 19, 2025. Perez was previously sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in the offense.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

"Methamphetamine rips families apart," said DEA Special Agent in Charge Daniel Escobar, Tampa Field Division. "Our agents and law enforcement partners will not stop until our communities are free from this poison."
