Lakeside Gang Member Sentenced to 14½ Years in Prison in Fentanyl Overdose Death
SAN DIEGO – Documented Lakeside gang member Uriah Odish was sentenced in federal court today to 174 months in prison and five years of supervised release for supplying the fentanyl that led to the fatal overdose of 26-year-old Tiffany Hansen of La Mesa on January 23, 2018.
According to his plea agreement, Odish admitted that he sold more than 500 grams of what he knew to be fentanyl between 2017 and the day of the fatal overdose. He pleaded guilty on September 17, 2019, to Conspiracy to Distribute Fentanyl.
“Uriah Odish chose to sell deadly fentanyl to make money and his greed has devastated a family forever,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge John W. Callery. “DEA will not allow drug dealers to get away with causing death and destruction in our community. Although nothing will ever end the grieving of a loved one, the DEA Overdose Response Team is committed to bringing these drug dealers to justice.”
“Another young life is destroyed, and her family is forever devastated, because of deadly fentanyl,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. “We cannot bring back Tiffany Hansen, but we hope her family can take some comfort in knowing that justice has been served in this case.”
According to a sentencing memo, the victim’s cell phone was recovered by investigators at the scene of her overdose. Upon securing consent from the victim’s mother and searching the phone, agents located a text message exchange that eventually revealed the defendant’s involvement in selling fentanyl to Tiffany’s husband who provided the fentanyl to Tiffany.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is working closely with the United States Attorney’s Office, the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and our other federal, state and local law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute cases targeting those who supply drugs in fatal overdose cases.
