Rensselaer Man Pleads Guilty To Oxycodone Conspiracy
(ALBANY, N.Y - - Justin M. Brooks, age 27, of Rensselaer, New York, pleaded guilty today to conspiring to distribute oxycodone.
The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt, New York Division, U.S. Drug Enforcement (DEA).
Brooks faces up to 20 years in prison and three years of post-imprisonment supervised release when he is sentenced on April 10, 2017, by Senior U.S. District Judge Thomas J. McAvoy. A defendant’s sentence is imposed by a judge based on the particular statute the defendant is charged with violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors.
As part of his plea, Brooks admitted that from about November 2015 through January 2016, he obtained approximately 150 oxycodone tablets from a co-conspirator, for resale in the Northern District of New York.
This case was investigated by the DEA and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Coffman.
