Kentucky Man Receives 15 Year Federal Prison Sentence For Methamphetamine And Firearm Offenses
COVINGTON, Ky. - Kerry B. Harvey, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Timothy J. Plancon, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’(DEA) Detroit Division, jointly announced that Domingo Garcia, of Florence, KY, has been sentenced to 180 months in federal prison.
U.S. District Court Judge Amul Thapar formally sentenced 44 year-old Domingo Garcia on November 13th, 2016. Garcia previously admitted to conspiring to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine and possessing a firearm to further his drug trafficking. Under federal law, Garcia must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence.
Garcia, who pleaded guilty in August of 2016, previously admitted that he conspired with others to distribute between 50 and 150 grams of crystal methamphetamine and possessed a firearm in order to protect his drugs and drug proceeds.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The U.S. Attorney’s Office was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tony Bracke.
