Schenectady Heroin Distributor Sentenced To 16 Years
ALBANY, N.Y. - Raymond P. Baker, 37, of Schenectady, New York, was sentenced today to 16 years in prison after a jury found him guilty in December 2015 of participating in a heroin distribution conspiracy.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt, New York Division, U.S. Drug Enforcement (DEA).
Senior United States District Judge Thomas J. McAvoy also sentenced Baker to serve eight years of supervised release, to begin after Baker is released from prison.
In December 2015, a jury convicted Baker following a 4-day trial. The evidence at trial demonstrated that from January 2015 to June 2015, Baker worked with another person to sell heroin at two locations in Albany County, and that the amount of heroin involved in the conspiracy was 100 grams or more.
This case was investigated by the DEA’s Albany District Office. It was prosecuted at trial by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Barnett, and was prosecuted to indictment by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Wayne A. Myers and Elizabeth R. Rabe.
