Jury Convicts Schenectady Man Of Heroin Conspiracy
ALBANY, NEW YORK - On Friday December 18, a jury convicted Raymond P. Baker, age 36, of Schenectady, New York, of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin, announced Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt, New York Division, Drug Enforcement Administration and United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian.
Baker faces at least 10 years and up to life in prison, and a term of post-imprisonment supervised release of at least eight years and up to life, when he is sentenced on May 9, 2016 by Senior United States District Judge Thomas J. McAvoy.
The jury convicted Baker following a four-day trial. The evidence at trial demonstrated that Baker worked with another person to sell heroin at two locations in Albany County, and that the amount of heroin involved in the conspiracy was 100 grams or more.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Albany District Office. It was prosecuted at trial by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Barnett, and was prosecuted to indictment by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Wayne A. Myers and Elizabeth R. Rabe.
