PHILADELPHIA - On October 7, 2015, the DEA Philadelphia Field Division participated in a town hall meeting at the Haverford Township Free Library to educate the residents about the dangers of prescription drug and heroin abuse.

During the meeting, which was attended by over 60 residents from the community, Diversion Investigator Scott Davis spoke about the illicit diversion of prescription drugs and how it often leads to heroin use.

Supervisory Special Agent Raymond Franklin and Special Agent Patrick Trainor spoke to residents about how heroin is distributed in the area and how to identify the signs of heroin use and symptoms of overdose.

At the end of the program, one of the attendees spoke about their own struggle with heroin abuse as well as several parents who spoke about the pain of recently losing a child to a heroin overdose.
