Fresno AG Marijuana Grower Sentenced
FRESNO, Calif. - Shavane Bouasangouane, 44, of Fresno, was sentenced today to four years and nine months in prison for his involvement in a large marijuana cultivation operation on agricultural land in Fresno County, Drug Enforcement Administration Acting Special Agent Bruce C. Balzano and United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced. Bouasangouane was also ordered to register as a drug offender.
According to court documents, Bousangouane was involved in the cultivation and processing of over 800 pounds of marijuana grown at his residence on Armstrong in Fresno. Bousangouane’s brother, Reney Bousangouane, has also been charged in this case. The charges against Reney Bousangouane are only allegations; the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
This case is the product of a joint investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Karen Escobar is prosecuting the criminal cases and Assistant United States Attorney Kevin Khasigian is handling the forfeiture of the real properties.
