Former Nurse Sentenced To Six Years In Federal Prison
ORLANDO, Fla. - Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement (DEA), Miami Field Division, and Robert E. O’Neill, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, announced that yesterday U.S. District Judge Gregory A. Presnell sentenced Terrie (43, Apopka) to six years in federal prison for knowingly and willfully conspiring to possess with intent to distribute Oxycodone. Jaime pled guilty to the charge on August 22, 2012.
According to court documents, while Jaime was employed as a nurse, she stole prescription pads from the doctor's office where she worked. Jaime used the pads to write numerous prescriptions for controlled substances in her name and in the names of other co-conspirators. The prescriptions were then taken to local pharmacies to be filled. Jaime kept track of the prescriptions and would tell pharmacists the prescriptions were valid when the pharmacists called her employing physician's office to verify the prescriptions. After the prescriptions were filled, her co-conspirers would provide Jaime a portion of the controlled substances.
This case was part of a coordinated investigation by the DEA Orlando District Office, Tactical Diversion Squad, the Volusia Bureau of Investigation, and the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
