Madison Man Sentenced For Crack Cocaine Distribution
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. - The Drug Enforcement Administration today announced that Rickey Salmond, 26, of Madison, IL, was sentenced on September 5, 2012, in District Court in East St. Louis, IL, on one count of possession with intent to distribute over five grams of crack cocaine.
Salmond was sentenced to 170 months imprisonment, three years of supervised release, was fined $500 and was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment. Salmond, who previously pled guilty, admitted that between 2009 and 2010, he sold crack cocaine in and around Madison, Illinois. On July 22, 2010, he sold cocaine base in the form of crack cocaine at his residence in Madison, IL, to a confidential informant. Madison County Police Officers obtained and executed a search warrant later that day, and recovered over 5 grams of crack cocaine.
The investigation was conducted under the auspices of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task (OCDETF), with the Drug Enforcement Administration as the lead agency, and the Madison County Police Department. The OCDETF initiative is designed to bring federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and resources together to identify, target and dismantle large national and international drug trafficking organizations.
