Franklin Man Sentenced For Manufacturing Methamphetamine
CONCORD, N.H. - Jeremy Clough, 33, of Franklin was sentenced today in United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire to 63 months in prison and three years of supervised release for conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, announced Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement (DEA) for New England and United States Attorney John P. Kacavas.
On April 6, 2010 federal, state and local law enforcement executed a federal search warrant at Clough’s apartment located at 160 Central Street, Franklin, N.H. Clough was manufacturing methamphetamine at the time. As police entered the apartment, the chemicals used in the manufacturing process exploded, causing a quick moving fire which destroyed the multi-family dwelling.
Due to the severity of the fire, eleven fire departments were called to assist the Franklin Fire Department. In addition, the Franklin High School was placed in “lock down” mode, and eight students and one teacher required medical attention for smoke-related issues as did several law enforcement personnel.
Clough will also be required to pay restitution, which could exceed $500,000, to the owner of the apartment building, the former tenants who were displaced as a result of the fire, the Franklin Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Hazardous Materials Response Team. The investigation was conducted by the United States Attorney’s Office, the DEA, the State of New Hampshire Attorney General’s Drug Task Force, the New Hampshire State Police, the Franklin Police Department, the Tilton Police Department, the Franklin Fire Department, the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office, the Merrimack County Attorney’s Office, and the State of New Hampshire Fire Marshall’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Cole Davis.
