Media Reports Lead To Arrests In Missing Persons Case
ALBANY, NY. - Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division United States Drug Enforcement Administration John P. Gilbride and District Attorney P. David Soares announced that GINO UZZELL a.k.a “G”, ANTHONY DAVIS a.k.a. “Inf” and JASON BENN a.k.a. “Jay” were arraigned yesterday morning on a five count sealed indictment in front of the Honorable Dan Lamont. The counts (2) counts of Conspiracy in the Second Degree, a Class “B” Felony (2) counts of Kidnapping in the First Degree, a Class “A-1” Felony. Additionally, BENN was indicted (1) count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, a Class “E” Felony. All three face 25 years to life if convicted of the charges. They each pled not guilty and were remanded into the custody of the Albany County Sheriff.
Spurred on by tips generated by media reports in June 2010, the indictment is the culmination of a six month multi-agency investigation involving the Albany Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Guilderland Police Department.
The indictment alleges that between February 1, 2010 and June 16, 2010, UZZELL, DAVIS, BENN and others conspired to abduct Steven Jackson for the purpose of extracting information from him about the location of his marihuana and marihuana proceeds.
It was part of the conspiracy for Gino Uzzell, a/k/a “G” to alert, Anthony Davis, a/k/a “Inf” and others, as to the delivery of marihuana and marihuana proceeds to Steven Jackson. As part of the conspiracy, it was the role of Gino Uzzell, a/k/a “G”, Anthony Davis, a/k/a “Inf” and others to coordinate surveillance of Steven Jackson in order to identify locations where Jackson stored marihuana and marihuana proceeds. It is alleged that the surveillance included the use of a tracking device. It was part of the conspiracy for Anthony Davis, a/k/a “Inf” and others to then cause the abduction of Steven Jackson.
Assistant District Attorneys Eric Galarneau and Francisco Calderon are handling the prosecution of this case.
