Indiana Man Sentenced to 130 Months for Fentanyl Trafficking
HAMMOND, Indiana - Alfred A. Cooke, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration-Merrillville, Indiana, and U.S. Attorney Clifford D. Johnson for the Northern District of Indiana announced that Bobby Wright, 41, of Gary, Indiana, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Senior Judge Jon E. DeGuilio after pleading guilty to one count of distribution of fentanyl.
Wright was sentenced to 130 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
According to documents in the case, Wright sold fentanyl on two separate occasions in September and October 2021. At the time of the sale, Wright was on federal supervised release for his 2019 felony conviction for distributing heroin and fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a school. Wright was also previously convicted in 2009 for felony dealing in cocaine in Lake County, Indiana.
This case is the result of the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the DEA and DEA North Central Laboratory. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin F. Wolff and Eamonn P. Sheehan.
