Raleigh, N.C.- The Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Atlanta Field Division Robert J. Murphy and the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina Robert J. Hidgon, Jr. announced, a Goldsboro man was sentenced today to 204 months in prison for Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine. U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III sentenced the defendant.

According to court documents, Obrien Devon Kornegay, 38, was arrested in Duplin County on June 26, 2019, after he delivered four ounces of crystal methamphetamine.  When Kornegay was arrested, he also had two grams of crack cocaine and two grams of heroin in his pockets.  Further investigation revealed that Kornegay had been involved in dealing kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine between December 2018 and his arrest in June 2019.

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura S. Howard  prosecuted the case.
