LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Louisville Field Division will host a Prescription Drug Take Back event on the Capitol Terrace in Frankfort, KY this Friday, October 25th.  The event provides an opportunity for lawmakers and area residents to safely dispose of unused, expired, or unwanted prescription drugs that may be cluttering their home medicine cabinets.

Date: Friday, October 25, 2019

Time:  10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Location:  Kentucky State Capitol Building Terrace

For those unable to participate on October 25th, you are encouraged to drop off your expired or unwanted medications on Saturday, October 26, 2019 during the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at sites all across the Commonwealth.  Please visit https://takebackday.dea.gov to locate a collection site near you.

“The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is a great opportunity for everyone to safely dispose of medications that could otherwise make their way out on the street,” said Acting Special Agent In Charge Dan Dodds, head of  DEA’s Louisville Division.

In 2017, 72.306 Americans died of a drug overdose death. 49,068 of those deaths involved the opioids. Medicine cabinets are one of the most common places where prescription drugs are obtained for possible abuse/misuse.  Please join us in keeping our community safe by disposing of unwanted prescription drugs in your medicine cabinets.
