TAMPA, Fla. – Ruben Longoria, Jr., 31, of Dallas, aka “Scooter,” was sentenced to 17 years and 6 months in federal prison today for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine from Texas into the Middle District of Florida. Longoria had pleaded guilty on Jan. 29, 2019.

According to court documents, Longoria was a supplier of methamphetamine in Dallas who had planned to distribute at least three kilograms of methamphetamine to the Pasco County area. After several recorded conversations between Longoria and a cooperating defendant, the Drug Enforcement Administration obtained a search warrant for Longoria’s Dallas residence. During the execution of the warrant on Sept. 19, 2018, law enforcement officers seized almost 4.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, as well as a trafficking amount of cocaine and a loaded firearm.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration Tampa District Office, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from a task force in DEA’s Dallas Field Division, as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force investigation. The principal mission of the OCDETF program is to identify, disrupt and dismantle the most serious drug trafficking and money laundering organizations and those primarily responsible for the nation’s drug supply. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
