Supplied heroin to Columbia County dealer

ALBANY, N.Y. –Saul E. Pacheco, age 38, of the Bronx, N.Y., pled guilty today to conspiring with another person to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin in Columbia County.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith, DEA New York Division Special Agent in Charge Ray Donovan and Columbia County Sheriff David P. Bartlett.

In pleading guilty, Pacheco admitted to supplying heroin to Timothy J. Simpson, Jr., a Columbia County drug dealer, from at least April 2017 through March 2018. Pacheco was arrested on April 4, 2018, while attempting to meet Simpson in the parking lot of a casino in Yonkers, Westchester County. In the parking lot, DEA special agents located a plastic bag containing approximately 68 grams of heroin, which Pacheco had discarded once he noticed agents approaching him.

Pacheco, who is in custody, faces at least five years and up to 40 years in prison, as well as a term of post-imprisonment supervised release of at least 4 years and up to life, when he is sentenced on Sept. 16, 2019, by Senior United States District Judge Thomas J. McAvoy. A defendant’s sentence is imposed by a judge based on the particular statute the defendant is charged with violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.

Simpson has pled guilty to drug conspiracy and possession charges, and is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge McAvoy on June 19, 2019.

This case was investigated by the DEA and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Barnett.

Pacheco has also pled guilty to an unrelated charge of conspiring to distribute more than 40 grams of fentanyl, in a case investigated by the DEA and prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Pacheco faces at least five years in prison in that case as well.
