NEW YORK – Hezekiah Morton, age 47, of Schenectady, N.Y., pled guilty today to distributing heroin and fentanyl in May 2018.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith; DEA New York Division Special Agent in Charge Raymond P. Donovan, and Schenectady County Sheriff Dominic Dagostino.

Morton admitted that between May 7 and May 17, 2018, while in Schenectady, he distributed approximately 46 grams of a substance that he claimed to be heroin, which contained detectable amounts of fentanyl.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 18, 2019 before Senior United States District Judge Gary L. Sharpe. Morton faces up to 20 years in prison, and a term of post-imprisonment supervised release of at least four years and up to life. A defendant’s sentence is imposed by a judge based on the particular statute the defendant is charged with violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors. 

This case was investigated by the DEA Albany District Office and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Emmet O’Hanlon.
