Florida man pleads guilty to cocaine charge in Rochester, N.Y.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Acting Special Agent in Charge Keith Kruskall, New York Division, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that Josue Vega, 37, of Kissimmee, Florida, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, before U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 20 years, and a $1,000,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn Hartford, who is handling the case, stated that on June 2, 2017, and June 15, 2017, the defendant sold 93 grams of cocaine in Rochester. Subsequently, on Aug. 2, 2017, Vega was observed obtaining 31 grams of cocaine with the intent to distribute it to others.
The plea is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge James J. Hunt, New York Field Division.
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 6, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. before Judge Wolford.
