BEAUMONT, Texas – A 41-year-old Jackson, Georgia man has been indicted and charged with federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced  Special Agent in Charge Will Glaspy, Drug Enforcement Administration, Houston Division and U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown today.

Oaka Donrez Adams was indicted by a federal grand jury on Sept. 5, 2018, and charged with possession with intent to distribute oxycodone.

According to information presented in court, on Aug. 14, 2018, Adams was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 through Orange County, Texas, when he was stopped for a traffic violation. It is alleged that during the traffic stop, officers developed reasonable suspicion that Adams may be involved in illegal drug trafficking activities.  Adams consented to a search of the vehicle and officers discovered over 4,000 oxycodone tablets hidden in a seat in his truck.

If convicted, Adams faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

This case is being investigated by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert L. Rawls.

It is important to note that a complaint, arrest, or indictment should not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
