Search warrants led to stash of guns and drugs
(NEWARK, N.J.) - Yesterday, at the Essex County courthouse, Darryl Dancy, 44, of Hillside and Parris Russ, 34, of Rahway were charged with numerous drug and weapons offenses. The arrests occurred as a result of a joint investigation between the Essex County Prosecutors Office Narcotics Task Force, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, New York City Police Department and the New York State Police.
A search warrant was executed at 640 Chancellor Avenue in Irvington. Agents and investigators seized 10 guns and arrested Darcy. The weapons included: two Kel-Tecs, three Smith and Wesson, a Super Shot revolver, a 9mm Beretta, one Mossberg sawed off 12 gauge shotgun and two unassembled rifles. Live hollow point rounds and live balled rounds were also recovered. In addition, 216.4 grams of heroin and $22,150 in cash was discovered.
Agents and investigators also executed a secondary search warrant at 79 Holly Place, Rahway, where Russ was arrested. Three weapons were recovered at the Rahway location – a Kel-Tec shotgun, an Anderson manufacturing AM 15 rifle and a .45 caliber Glock. Cash in the amount of $1,220 was also found.
In addition to the weapons, 30 bricks of heroin, 30 grams of unpacked heroin and drug paraphernalia were discovered. The drug paraphernalia included stamps, scales, and strainers with cocaine residue and stamp pads.
These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
