OCT 29 -- (Baltimore, MD) Carl J. Kotowski, Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the Baltimore District Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), along with Rod J. Rosenstein, United States Attorney for the District of Maryland and Pat Monardo, Deputy Chief, United States Marshals Service District of Maryland, presented Police Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld, Baltimore City Police Department and Terrence Sheridan, Superintendent, Maryland State Police, with asset forfeiture checks.

A Press Conference was held on October 23rd at the DEA Baltimore District Office in which ASAC Kotowski explained to the media the DOJ'S Asset Forfeiture Program. Also at this time, ASAC Kotowski shared seized asset checks totaling over $300.000.00 with the Maryland State Police and the Baltimore City Police Department. According to ASAC Kotowski," the DEA Baltimore District Office seizures for this year has increased over 59% from last year". Kotowski added that "the money seized during the course of an investigation can be used to further combat crime by funding local law enforcement programs, i.e. training and for the purchase of equipment". State Police Superintendent Terrence Sheridan, and City Police Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld III stated that the money is being well spent on crime fighting, and is saving the taxpayers alot of money.
