OMAHA - Matt Barden, Associate Special Agent in Charge of the DEA St. Louis Division, today announced that Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task (OCDETF) operation “Mala Rubia” resulted in a 12 and ½ year prison sentence for the leader of this drug trafficking (DTO). Jason Nauman, 36, of Marshalltown, Iowa, received this sentence following his plea of guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine from U.S. District Judge Linda R. Reade for the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Iowa.

“Meth dealers profit by distributing poison in our communities,” Associate Special Agent in Charge Barden said. “No matter the size of the community, unchecked, these unscrupulous individuals wreak havoc without caring about the repercussions of their actions. With the solid and formidable partnerships we have with our state and local law enforcement partners, working together on OCDETF cases like this one, we can take back and keep our neighborhoods safe from those seeking to destroy them.”

During his plea hearing Nauman admitted that he and the others he was involved with distributed a minimum of three pounds of crystal methamphetamine during the spring and fall of 2015. Nauman is currently in the custody of the United States Marshals Service awaiting transfer to a federal prison.

This case was investigated by the DEA and the Marshall County, Iowa, Sheriff’s Department. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa prosecuted this investigation.
