Germantown Drug Dealer Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison
GREENBELT, MD. - U.S. District Judge Roger W. Titus sentenced Bryon Anthony Grey, Jr., age 26, of Germantown, Maryland, yesterday to 25 years in prison followed by eight years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a gun in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Ava Cooper-Davis of the Drug Enforcement (DEA) Washington Field Division; Special Agent in Charge Theresa R. Stoop of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and (ATF) Baltimore Field Division; Chief J. Thomas Manger of the Montgomery County Police Department; Chief Larry M. Brownlee, Sr. of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Prince George’s County Division; Chief Darien L. Manley of the Maryland National Capital Park Police, Montgomery County Division; Chief T. N. Treschuk of the Rockville City Police Department; Interim Chief Mark Magaw of the Prince George’s County Police Department; Charles County Sheriff Rex Coffey; and St. Mary’s County Sheriff Tim Cameron.
According to his guilty plea, from January 2003 to August 2006 Grey received cocaine which he converted into crack and gave to his associates in the Lincoln Park, Germantown and Gaithersburg area of Montgomery County to sell at open air drug markets in Montgomery County. Grey carried a gun with him when he was distributing his drugs.
On April 8, 2005, Grey was present when gunfire was exchanged during an altercation between a coconspirator and a drug dealer. Grey fled the scene and returned to pick up his coconspirator. During a high speed chase, the co-conspirator threw a loaded semi-automatic gun from the vehicle. Grey struck a police car and advised his girlfriend to get out of the car and flee with two and a half ounces of crack cocaine and over 11 ounces of powder cocaine.
On October 1, 2005, police stopped a car reported as stolen that Grey was driving. Police seized over three ounces of crack cocaine and approximately five ounces of powder cocaine, along with a loaded handgun. Grey was also stopped on June 6, 2006 and approximately one-half ounce of crack cocaine was seized from his car. A search warrant was executed at Grey’s home on August 16, 2006. Police seized approximately six and a half ounces of powder cocaine.
During the time of the conspiracy, Grey and his coconspirators distributed or possessed between 11 and 33 pounds of crack cocaine.
