Meth Dealer Gets 126 Months In Prison After Multi-year Investigation
OMAHA - Matt Barden, Association Special Agent in Charge of the Omaha District Office, today announced that Roberto Ochoa Cantu, 44, of Alamo, Texas, was sentenced to 126 months in prison following his conviction of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and for interstate transportation in aid of racketeering. Cantu was arrested on April 24, 2017, after an approximate yearlong investigation where Cantu was involved selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant.
“Methamphetamine is a horrible poison in our community,” Associate Special Agent in Charge Barden said. “Regardless if the dealer is selling one gram, or 150 grams, meth dealers profit off of destroying our neighborhoods. Working together with our law enforcement partners allow us to do all we can to keep our communities safe.”
Evidence obtained in this investigation showed how Cantu was responsible for obtaining shipments of methamphetamine from south Texas to Lincoln, Nebraska, for distribution. Cantu was also identified selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant six different times from November of 2016 to February of 2017, including one sale that was 62 grams of pure methamphetamine. Cantu also advised the confidential informant on ways to pay for the methamphetamine, by instructing him to deposit cash into multiple different bank accounts in Lincoln which could be withdrawn by persons in south Texas.
As Cantu is a citizen of Mexico, he will likely be deported after serving his prison sentence.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement (DEA), the Federal Bureau of (FBI), the Nebraska State Patrol and the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force.
This case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nebraska.
