GRANITE CITY, Ill. - Drug Enforcement (DEA) Special Agent in Charge, James P. Shroba announced today that Ronald J. Wiggins, 35, of Granite City, was sentenced this week to 151 months in federal prison for offenses relating to the distribution of methamphetamine.

Wiggins pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis on September 3, 2014 to three federal charges: Maintaining Drug-Related Premises; Distribution of Methamphetamine; and Possession With Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
Upon release from prison, Wiggins will also be required to serve a term of three years on supervised release.

At his change of plea hearing in September, Wiggins admitted that he had used his residence in Granite City, Illinois to distribute methamphetamine throughout 2013. Wiggins also admitted that he had sold methamphetamine to a police informant on June 13, and again on June 19, 2013, in Granite City.

Special Agent in Charge Shroba says that Wiggins’ sentencing is just one step in cleaning up our communities from illegal drug distribution, “Keeping our neighborhoods safe is the ultimate goal, even if we have to do it one drug distributor at a time.”

The investigation which resulted in Wiggins’ arrest and conviction was conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement (DEA) and the Granite City Police Department.
