BENTON, IL. - Stephen R. Wigginton, the United States Attorney for the Southern
District of Illinois, announced that three men and one woman were sentenced on July 19, 2011 in United States District Court in Benton, Illinois. All three previously pled guilty on April 7, 2011 to a one count indictment charging them with Conspiracy to Manufacture a Controlled (Methamphetamine).

Christopher Knapp, 41, of Marion, IL; Christopher Hosmon, 28, of Johnston City, IL; Alexander Loyd, 23, of Heyworth, IL; and Britnee Childers-Beers, 24, of Marion, IL, were sentenced to terms in federal prison after having pled guilty in United States District Court to a methamphetamine manufacturing conspiracy from on or about April 2008 through February 2010 in Williamson County in the Southern District of Illinois. Knapp received a 151-month sentence and a $200 fine; Hosmon was sentenced to 262 months and a $200 fine; Beers and Loyd received 60-month sentences and $100 fines. In addition, each was sentenced to serve a five-year term of supervised release following release from prison.

“As I have warned people before, the end result of dealing in methamphetamine is prison or death. This drug is simply poison!,” said United States Attorney Wigginton. All of the defendants admitted to the court that they would obtain pseudoephedrine pills for use in manufacturing methamphetamine and then would manufacture the methamphetamine and distribute it to each other as well as to others in Williamson County. Hosmon and Knapp were the primary manufacturers of the methamphetamine while the others were primarily involved in obtaining ingredients used in the manufacturing process.

This investigation was conducted jointly by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Illinois State Police and the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force Offices.
