EAST ST. LOUIS, IL.
- Stephen R. Wigginton, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced that a Sauk Village, IL, man was sentenced in United States District Court on May 11, 2011, on two-count indictment charging Distribution of Crack Cocaine and Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine.

Antonio L. Flowers, a/k/a “Slim,” 27, of Sauk Village, formerly of Murphysboro, was sentenced to 96 months’ imprisonment, 4 years’ supervised release, and was fined $400. The offenses occurred on July 21, 2010, in Jackson County.

Evidence at Flowers’ sentencing hearing established that Flowers was transporting crack cocaine from northern Illinois to Murphysboro. In Murphysboro, Flowers was distributing most of the crack cocaine from two apartments located at the Valley Ridge Housing Complex and Atlasta Housing Complex. On July 21, 2010, Flowers sold crack cocaine to a confidential source working for law enforcement. When agents from the Jackson County Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force later executed a search warrant at Flowers’ Murphysboro residence, agents seized over 57 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, and United States currency. At sentencing, the district judge found that Flowers was responsible for the distribution of approximately 277 grams of crack cocaine. Flowers sentence was also enhanced based on his possession of a firearm during his drug dealing.

The investigation was conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Murphysboro Police Department, and Drug Enforcement Administration. The Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office also assisted during the investigation. The investigation was conducted as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods DRAGUN Team Initiative, a cooperative effort of local, state, and federal law enforcement, and state and federal prosecuting authorities, aimed at ridding communities of illegal drugs and guns.
