EAST ST. LOUIS, IL. - Stephen R. Wigginton, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois announced that Cristy Davis, 28, formerly of Greenville, Ill., was sentenced on February 8, 2011, in United States District Court, East St. Louis. Davis had entered a guilty plea to a superseding indictment charging her with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine (crack). Davis was sentenced to 70 months imprisonment and five years supervised release to follow imprisonment, and she was also ordered to pay a $350 fine and a $100 special assessment.

The violations took place between January 2009 and March 11, 2010, in Bond, Fayette and St.
Clair Counties, Illinois. According to court documents, Cristy Davis drove her husband, Jimmie Davis, to East St. Louis, Illinois, to obtain crack cocaine, and returned him to Greenville, Illinois, where he distributed it in and around Greenville and Vandalia, Illinois, with the help of others. Jimmie Davis was previously sentenced in the case.

This investigation was conducted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug
Enforcement Administration and was conducted in cooperation with Fayette County State’s Attorney Stephen Friedel. Also assisting in the investigation was the Bond County Sheriff’s Office, the Greenville Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The investigation was conducted as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods DRAGUN Team Initiative, a cooperative effort of local, state and federal law enforcement, and state and federal prosecuting authorities, aimed at ridding communities of illegal drugs and guns.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kit R. Morrissey.
