EAST ST. LOUIS, IL. - Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced that on January 27, 2011 PAUL W. GOSSRAU - and CHRISTOPHER D. POLLARD - have been sentenced to federal prison terms for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.

GOSSRAU - , age 45 of Godfrey, Illinois, was sentenced to 63 months’ imprisonment, to be followed by 4 years of supervised release. POLLARD - , age 33 of south St. Louis County, was sentenced to 130 months’ imprisonment, followed by 4 years of supervised release. GOSSRAU - and POLLARD - pled guilty in October, 2010, and both were sentenced in United States District Court in East St. Louis on January 27, 2011.

According to evidence presented at their change-of-plea hearings, the two men bought at least 5500 pseudo-ephedrine cold tablets and took these pills to GOSSRAU’S - house in Godfrey, where they were used to manufacture methamphetamine. Most of the methamphetamine GOSSRAU - and POLLARD - made was then sold in St. Louis County, Missouri during 2008 through 2009.

On June 18, 2009, Drug Enforcement Administration agents executed a search warrant at GOSSRAU’S - Godfrey residence and seized a large quantity of methamphetamine manufacturing equipment, including ammonia, rubber tubing, pseudo-ephedrine cold tablets, and ten ounces of methamphetamine residue.

The investigation which resulted in the convictions of GOSSRAU - and POLLARD - was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Illinois State Police and the Godfrey, Illinois Police Department. The case was assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Robert L. Garrison for prosecution.
