FRESNO, Calif. - Eduardo Zazueta Garcia, 28, of Delhi, pleaded guilty today to possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

According to court documents, in August 2012, Garcia and his co-defendants obtained approximately three pounds of methamphetamine and attempted to ship it to Hawaii. Instead, law enforcement seized that methamphetamine.

Garcia is scheduled to be sentenced by United States District Judge Lawrence J. O'Neill on March 2, 2015. Garcia faces a maximum statutory penalty of life in prison and a $10 million fine. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.

This case is the product of an investigation of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Stanislaus Drug Enforcement Agency and the Modesto Police Department. It was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task (OCDETF), a program established in 1982 to conduct comprehensive, multilevel attacks on major drug trafficking and money laundering organizations. The principal mission of the OCDETF program is to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the most serious drug trafficking and money laundering organizations and those primarily responsible for the nation’s drug supply. Assistant United States Attorney Kevin Rooney is prosecuting the case.
