SEATTLE - An Arlington dog kennel operator was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Seattle to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute heroin and methamphetamine, and possession of counterfeit money.

Shawn Lundy, 61, the operator of Arlington Doggy Day Care, was arrested February 25, 2014 and pleaded guilty November 24, 2014.  When law enforcement agents searched the kennel facility in February 2014, they found cash from the sale of drugs and counterfeit money in various safes on the property and in hidden voids in the walls they found heroin, methamphetamine, cash and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.  U.S. District Judge Robert S. Lasnik imposed five years of supervised release to follow the prison term.

According to records filed in the case, Lundy came to the attention of law enforcement as someone distributing significant amounts of heroin in Snohomish County, an area particularly hard hit by heroin overdoses.  Lundy has previous federal drug trafficking convictions in both Connecticut and Washington.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement (DEA), the Whatcom County Drug and Gang Task Force, Skagit County Inter-local Drug Enforcement Unit, Snohomish Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, the U.S. Secret Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & (ATF), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security (HSI) and Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Division.

This was an Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task (OCDETF) investigation, providing supplemental federal funding to the federal and state agencies involved.
