DEA Participates in VACC Candlelight Tribute for Crime Survivors

SAN DIEGO, CA - April 10-16, 2011 is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week - a time for law enforcement, prosecutorial agencies, victim advocates and community members to come together and support victims of crime.

Enforcing victim’s rights protects victims, enhances public safety and fosters public confidence in our criminal justice system. Agencies that partake in this Tribute and those who attend will acknowledge and honor crime victims nationwide.

The Victim Assistance Coordinating (VACC) and the Drug Enforcement Administration in San Diego, CA invites you to attend the 22nd annual Candlelight Tribute for Crime Survivors on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 5:30 pm. The Tribute will be held at the San Diego Police Officers’ Association Hall, 8388 Vickers St., San Diego, CA 92111. The keynote speaker will be United States Attorney Laura E. Duffy of the Southern District of California. The Tribute is a time to memorialize victims and to hear inspirational words from local law enforcement agencies, victim advocates and personal stories from the victims themselves.

The Tribute is sponsored by members of VACC, the Alliance for Community Empowerment, the Crime and Trauma Recovery Program, Drug Enforcement (DEA), Federal Bureau of (FBI), First Avenue Counseling Centre, Identity Theft Resource Center, the Jenna Druck Center, Mothers Against Drunk Driver’(MADD), Parents Of Murdered Children, San Diego District Attorney’s Office Victim assistance Program, San Diego Police Department Crisis Intervention, San Diego County Sherriff’s Department, Survivors of Violent Loss Program, Therapy Changes, the United States Attorney’s Office and other victim advocates.

By providing a single, uniform message from these agencies and service providers, we can help increase awareness and improve the assistance provided to all crime victims.
