PHOENIX, AZ. - Senior U.S. District Judge Stephen M. McNamee sentenced Rogelio Anton Perez on Tuesday to 12 years in the Bureau of Prisons. Perez, 30, of Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, pleaded guilty to the charge of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Cocaine.

“The drug trade has become a losing proposition for traffickers”, said DEA Acting Special Agent in Charge Doug Coleman. “Rogelio Anton Perez and his organization poisoned too many of our neighborhoods, and DEA and our partners will not relent until our streets are safe and these criminals are behind bars.”

“Through the combined efforts of local and federal law enforcement, a two-time convicted felon was taken off the streets,” U.S. Attorney Dennis K. Burke stated. “Repeat offenders selling drugs in our community cannot be tolerated.”

Between February 2010 and June 2010, Rogelio Anton Perez sold methamphetamine and cocaine from his home in the area of Thomas Road and 91 st Avenue in Phoenix. On June 23, 2010, agents executed a search warrant at Anton’s house. Anton was present, along with his significant other, and their small children. During the search of the house, agents found sale quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine, over $20,000 in U.S. currency, drug paraphernalia including scales and canisters with false bottoms, and a loaded firearm. Anton has two prior felony convictions and has been deported to Mexico previously.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration Strike Force; Immigration and Customs Enforcement; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; Phoenix Police Department; Arizona Department of Public Safety; and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution was handled by Jonell L. Lucca, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
