PHILADELPHIA - Gary Tuggle, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’(DEA) Philadelphia Division, announced today that the DEA will release its Analysis of Drug Related Overdose Deaths in Pennsylvania, 2015 report.

As the prescription opioid and heroin epidemic continues to plague the Commonwealth, a significant increase in overdose deaths was noted in 2015. This report will be the second comprehensive analysis of illicit drug and diverted pharmaceutical overdose deaths in Pennsylvania’s 67 counties and the first year-to-year comparison with 2014 data.

A news conference announcing the release of this report is scheduled for Tuesday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the offices of the DEA Philadelphia Division, which is located on the 10th floor of the William J. Green Federal Building at 600 Arch Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Speakers at the news conference include:

  • SAC Gary Tuggle, DEA Philadelphia Division
  • Secretary Gary Tennis, Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs
  • U.S. Attorney Zane D. Memeger, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania
  • Jeremiah A. Daley, Executive Director, Philadelphia-Camden HIDTA program

The DEA’s Intelligence Program, working with the Philadelphia-Camden High Intensity Drug Trafficking (HIDTA) program, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation and Drug Control, and the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs conducted the analysis for this report.

Members of the media wanting to attend the press conference are asked to contact DEA Public Information Officer/Special Agent Patrick J. Trainor at (215) 852-8740 or patrick.j.trainor@usdoj.gov.
