Local Oneonta Man Arrested On Drug Charges
OTSEGO, N.Y. - Special Agent in Charge James J. Hunt U.S. Drug Enforcement (DEA) New York Division, Otsego County District Attorney John M. Muehl, and Otsego County Sheriff Richard J. Devlin, Jr. announce the arrest of an Oneonta man on drug and weapon charges.
District Attorney Investigators received information that Harry Edmond, 45, of 34 Maple Street, Oneonta, NY was selling narcotic drugs and marihuana. Investigators and DEA Special Agents conducted an investigation into the alleged drug trafficking and developed probable cause for a search warrant. On January 19th Otsego County Court Judge John F. Lambert signed a no-knock search warrant for Edmond’s residence.
On January 21st around 8:00 a.m. members of the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement (SEB) along with D.A. Investigators, DEA special agents and patrol and detective bureau members from the Oneonta Police Department executed the narcotics search warrant. As the DEA and SEB agents and officers were executing the warrant, Edmond attempted to exit a secondary door of the residence and was detained.
The following items were located and seized out of the residence: approximately nine and a half pounds of processed high grade marihuana valued at $28,500, small quantity of crack cocaine, electronic digital scale, electronic stun gun and $16, 852 in US currency.
Harry Edmond was arrested by investigators and charged with the following felonies: criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of marihuana in the second degree. He was also charged with the misdemeanor crimes of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. Edmond was arraigned by Oneonta City Court Judge Richard W. McVinney and remanded to the OCCF on $20,000 bail returnable in the City Court on January 27, 2016 at 8:15 a.m. If convicted of the felony drug charges, Edmond faces up to nine years in prison.
