Local Law Enforcement Effort Takes Over Sixteen Pounds Of Marijuana Off Troy Streets
ALBANY, NY. - Acting Special Agent in Charge Wilbert L. Plummer announced that as a result of a recent joint investigation between investigators in the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office, the Rensselaer County Drug Task Force, the City of Troy Police Department, federal Drug Enforcement ( DEA ) officers , and United States Postal Inspectors, approximately 16.8 pounds of marijuana were confiscated in Troy and earmarked to be destroyed by authorities.
DeJon Robinson, age 22, of 18 Holmstead Avenue in Albany, New York, was arrested at the Lansingburg Post Office after postal inspectors brought in the Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 unit which confirmed 14.99 pounds of marijuana in a package Robinson claimed at the post office. Officers took Robinson into custody and charged him with a Class C Felony. He was arraigned in Brunswick Town Court, remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail and released on $1,500 bail.
The same joint investigation also led to the arrest of Channel Smith, age 24, of 467 Clinton Avenue in Albany, New York, who was arrested on 9 th Street in the City of Troy when she accepted the delivery of a 1.9 pound package of marijuana. She was charged with possession of marijuana in the second degree as well as second degree forgery for signing the name of another individual after accepting the package. Smith was arraigned in Brunswick Town Court and released on her own recognizance.
Both Robinson and Smith will appear in Troy Police Court at a later date.
