Two Houma Men Sentenced In Heroin Distribution Conspiracy
NEW ORLEANS - Roland “Troy” Chambers, 45,and Gregory Jackson, 40, both of Houma, Louisiana, were sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey to 71 months and 60 months incarceration, respectively, announced DEA Special Agent in Charge Keith Brown and U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite. Both defendants were sentenced to four years of supervised release to be served after their incarceration.
Chamberspreviously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin, one count of possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin, and three counts of distribution of heroin. Jacksonpreviously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and five counts of distribution of heroin.
According to court documents, Chambersand Jackson worked together to sell heroin in the Houma, Louisiana area. From July 1, 2012 through May 31, 2013, Chambersand Jacksonmade several sales of heroin to confidential sources of the Drug Enforcement (DEA). During the course of the conspiracy, Jacksonwould instruct others on how to “bag up” heroin for resale to other drug users. Chambersserved as a supplier, making several trips to New Orleans to obtain more heroin. DEA agents and Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Chambersin possession of over 100 grams of heroin immediately after he returned from New Orleans.
The case was investigated by the DEA New Orleans Division Office and the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Matthew Payne.
