More Than 30 Drug Peddlers Arrested In Orange County
ORLANDO, Fla. - On June 10, 2015, members of the Drug Enforcement (DEA), Orlando District Office, assisted the Orange County Sheriff’s (OCSO) Narcotics Unit conduct the final stage of Operation Old Cheney. This was a culmination of a four month investigation after the OCSO continually received complaints from business owners regarding individuals selling and buying narcotics in the area of Old Cheney Highway and Semoran Boulevard in Orange County.
DEA Special Agent in Charge A. D. Wright stated, "We want to thank the Orange County citizens for reaching out to law enforcement and voicing their concerns about the illegal drug dealings in their area. We heard you loud and clear. In the last four months, the DEA and our local counterparts have removed more than 30 drug peddlers from our community, and we will use all our resources to keep them off our streets."
“Through our partnership with the DEA we were successful in dismantling a significant drug trafficking organization” says Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings.
This investigation is still ongoing, and law enforcement will continue all efforts to reduce the sales, possession, and usage of illegal narcotics.
The following are the results of the June 10th operation.
- 58 arrest warrants executed
- 34 suspects arrested
- 5 additional arrests after the warrants were served
The charges ranged from possession of controlled substances to possession with intent to distribute control substances. The charges are merely an accusation and the defendants are assumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
This case is being prosecuted by the Office of The State Attorney, Ninth Judicial Circuit.
