Methamphetamine Trafficker Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison
TAMPA, Fla. - Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement (DEA), Miami Field Division, and Robert E. O’Neill, United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, announced today that U.S. District Judge James S. Moody, Jr. sentenced Alfredo (58, Riverview) to 20 years in federal prison for conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute fifty grams or more of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute fifty grams or more of methamphetamine. Coronado was found guilty by a federal jury on September 11, 2012.
According to evidence presented at trial, from early 2011 until his arrest on October 18, 2011, Coronado sold large quantities of methamphetamine from his home in Riverview to lower-level dealers. The lower-level dealers would in turn distribute the smaller quantities in Lakeland. Coronado, who worked for his nephew, Henry Corona, would receive multiple-ounce quantities of high purity methamphetamine from Corona for purposes of distribution. Corona previously pled guilty for his role as the leader of this Riverview methamphetamine trafficking ring.
This case was investigated by the DEA Tampa District Office and Task Force Agents from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Lakeland Police Department.
