Local Rapper Sentenced To 30 Years For Drug Trafficking
TAMPA, Fla. - Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement (DEA), Miami Field Division, and Robert E. O’Neill, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, announced yesterday that U.S. District Judge William J. Castagna sentenced Demetrius Gregory (34, Tampa) to 30 years in federal prison for possession of 28 grams or more of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute it. The Court also ordered him to serve an eight-year term of supervised release upon the completion of his prison term. A federal jury found Floyd guilty on June 6, 2012.
Court records indicate that Floyd is a local rapper who goes by the stage name "Money-Clipz." According to testimony presented at trial, on October 10, 2010, Floyd was found in a bedroom during the execution of a search warrant. In addition to his clothing, mail, and driver's license, more than 300 grams of crack cocaine were discovered in the bedroom, along with sandwich bags, a digital scale, and a razor blade. Floyd's DNA was also discovered on packaging that contained 33 grams of crack cocaine.
This case was investigated by the DEA Tampa District Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Tampa Police Department.
