Drug Investigation Leads To Racketeering Case And 36 Indictments

DENVER - The Drug Enforcement (DEA), Western Colorado Drug Task Force, Two Rivers Drug Enforcement (TRIDENT), and the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s Office have completed the first phase of an investigation that has resulted in the seizure of significant amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine and a grand jury indictment of 36 defendants.

The four month investigation identified a drug trafficking organization that imported methamphetamine and cocaine from Mexico into western Colorado, California, Kansas, and Nevada.  To date, 25 people are in custody, and 10 pounds of methamphetamine, 9 pounds of cocaine, $144,300 cash, 9 firearms, and 8 vehicles have been seized during the execution of search warrants related to the arrests.

Among those indicted by the grand jury are the following individuals:

  • Shaun Crowell
  • Deziree Fisher
  • Brian Wall
  • Sigifredo Romero-Meraz, aka “Sigi” or “Flaco”
  • Terrence Lawrence
  • Alex Vargas
  • Garrett Digiallonardo, aka “Cumbias”
  • Alvaro Carbajal, aka “Lalo”
  • April Trujillo
  • Brenda Mendoza
  • Danielle Sparks
  • Kelsey Davis
  • Darryl Ross

Grand Junction Police Chief John Camper stated, “We are fortunate to have a highly skilled contingent of professional drug investigators here in western Colorado that works tirelessly to track down criminals bringing illegal drugs into our area.  This case is the culmination of months of hard work, and shows just how complex and widespread these drug trafficking investigations can be.  Our citizens can be very proud of the work that went into this difficult case.”

The investigation continues, with more arrests and seizures anticipated.
