United States Drug Enforcement Administration

(SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico)  -   - The Drug Enforcement Administration with the support of the Puerto Rico Police Department “Oficina de Información Criminal de San Juan” directed by the Lieutenant Ivan Bahr, and in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service, Puerto Rico, arrested Julio Marquez-Alejandro also known as "Chino Montero" a "Top Ten Most Wanted" fugitive since February 2011.

Marquez-Alejandro is wanted for alleged violations related to a drug trafficking organization operating in the Manuel A. Perez Public Housing Project in San Juan, PR.

He was arrested at his hide out residence located in Chalet de la Playa, Vega Baja, PR, at approximately 8:00 a.m.  The arrest was executed without incidents.

“Today’s arrest stands as a warning to those individuals whose greed drives them to pollute our streets and schools with poisonous contraband. This individual was hiding since February 2011, but we never stop looking for him.  A message for those who try to disregard the law, we are going to find you and you will have to stand trial in federal court for your offense,” said Vito S. Guarino, DEA Special Agent in Charge for the Caribbean Division.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Vernon B. Miles. The defendant is facing a minimum of 10 years up to life in prison.  Criminal indictments are only charges and not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty.
