New Haven Felon Sentenced To 30 Months In Federal Prison For Possessing Firearm
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - John J. Arvanitis, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England and Deirdre M. Daly, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Jermaine McGee, 35, of New Haven, was sentenced today by Senior U.S. District Judge Alfred V. Covello in Hartford to 30 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for illegally possessing a firearm.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on July 11, 2012, McGee possessed a Bryco Arms .380 automatic handgun. Prior to July 2012, he had sustained felony convictions in New York and Connecticut.
It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.
On June 26, 2013, McGee pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
This matter was investigated by the New Haven Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration.
