New Fairfield Man Sentenced To Five Years In Federal Prison For Manufacturing And Distributing Marijuana
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - John J. Arvanitis, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England and David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that Sean Salasevicius, 32, of New Farifield, was sentenced yesterday by United States District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven to 60 months of imprisonment, followed by four years of supervised release, for manufacturing and distributing marijuana.
According to court documents and statements made in court, this matter stems from a Drug Enforcement Administration and Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force investigation into a large-scale marijuana growing and trafficking organization that operated in the greater Danbury area and had ties to New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Between June 2011 and June 2012, the drug trafficking organization conspired to manufacture, sell, and distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana.
The investigation revealed that Salasevicius maintained a marijuana growing operation at his residence on Linda Lane in New Fairfield.
Salasevicius and six other individuals were charged as a result of the investigation. During the course of the investigation, investigators seized marijuana, more than $350,000 in cash, 10 firearms, vehicles and real property.
On January 14, 2013, Salasevicius pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to manufacture, distribute, and possess with intent to distribute between 100 and 400 kilograms of marijuana.
This matter is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force Northwest Office.
