Adilson Reyes Sentenced To More Than 11 Years In Federal Prison
Reyes is one of three defendants charged in one of R.I.’s largest cocaine seizures
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - John J. Arvanitis, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement (DEA) for New England; United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island, Peter F. Neronha and Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that Adilson A. Reyes, 31, of Utah, one of three men arrested in January 2011 by federal, state and local law enforcement officers and agents during the seizure of 65 kilos of cocaine and more than 1.2 million dollars in cash in North Kingstown, was sentenced today to 135 months in federal prison.
U.S. District Court Chief Judge Mary M. Lisi also ordered Reyes to serve 5 years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term. Reyes pleaded guilty in April 2011 to conspiracy to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine.
Armando Saucedo, 33, of California, a co-defendant in this matter, was sentenced on November 1, 2012, to 156 months in federal prison. The third defendant in this matter, Andrew Rios, 42, of California, is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on January 11, 2013.
In September 2010, federal, state and local law enforcement, working in conjunction with the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office, developed information about the trafficking of cocaine from outside Rhode Island into the state. The investigation led investigators to monitor activity at hotels in West Greenwich and Pawtucket, several vehicles, and a storage facility in North Kingstown.
In January 2011, federal, state and local law enforcement agents executed search warrants and seized 65.07 kilos of cocaine, $1,245,070 in cash and a firearm from two vehicles and a storage facility in North Kingstown.
The matter was investigated by the DEA Drug Task Force, Rhode Island State Police, and officers from the Warwick, Woonsocket, and East Providence Police Departments.
